Leisure Batteries

Whats the real world difference between a Gel and Lead Acid? I appreciate the gel should be able to discharge further without damage but will I notice the difference?

My beach has a Lead Acid and it works great tbh but I always wonder if I should get the battery that was intended to be in there.

Have read of this as to all battery types. Longish read.

Rear batt 12.3v but looks like a seat out job on the front one, I still can't help thinking this is related to the control unit or earth shunt, the batteries are reading 60% still too.
