Hercules Tower at A Coruna in Spain.
There is a well-preserved 2nd-century Roman Stone lighthouse INSIDE this tower.
Supposedly the oldest lighthouse in the world?

This is the closest I've been able to get to a lighthouse on my recent trips.

This has turned into a great thread, with some inspiration for new places to visit.

Sadly, this will be my last contribution to the thread (the Westy is going, but I promised HC I'd stick some more photos up from our first trip with the new van), but I'll pop back often to check on this thread.

The old and the new lighthouses at Fraserburg. The Lighthouse museum is excellent!

And finally the dinky little lighthouse at Ratray Head. We camped next to the lighthouse keeper's cottages, with a view of the lighthouse. Bit of a bumpy road, but worth it.

We were returning from touring the Flanders region in the North of France, visiting a hand full of small museums in small towns. It's amazing how many nice museums there are in French Flanders. Can recommend a trip there.

Although mid-winter, we found a campsite every night, here near the city of Le Cateau. Minus 6 Celsius, but a wonderful Matisse museum in town.

Regards from Amsterdam,

Marc.
