It was me! Often go with my son, sometimes with my wife and we stop over in Formby. We will be up again for the local derby in a few weeks, hoping for another win then

I have a season ticket and sometimes take ours to the game, can you recommend any decent sites or stopovers locally?

We don't go on a campsite but use the Cross House Inn in Formby - they do a nice meal and allow you to stop in their large car-park as long as you use the pub just give them your registration so no parking fine. Although it looks like it's in the middle of a busy area, if you park at the far end near the grassy area it is nice and quiet, usually one or two more vans. Only about 15 miles to Lower Breck Road. There is also a great National Trust area with red squirrels and lovely walks through the woods and along the beach, a chance to see where some of the greats live as well!! We use it for early kick offs, go up the night before and have a nice relaxed start to the day. My wife says they have a great gin selection!
