Hi there.

I’m having a custom roof rack made, old school style wing half rack by RetroRacks. The rack is his standard but the fitting is not something he’s done before, easy to adapt but as I’m 6 hour drive away can’t just nip in.

Hope someone can help.

Have done a ton of measuring but is there a way to find the exact specs / measures / technical drawing of the roof bar channels, I’m 95% sure it’s this (in mm)

Top opening 10mm
Depth internal 15mm
Internal channel width 23mm
Receiving open channel 23mm

Width of channel to channel to center of opening 1210
Rail length excluding receiving channel 1730

Of course if anyone is Manchester way and could spare an hour or three to pop in to see mark to help with measures I would happily buy a beer or make a donation to a charity as a thank you.

Here is the site. https://retroracks.com/

Many thanks

Ps yes im aware of weight limits etc of the pop top.

It’s likely that you will need updated roof struts for the coasts manual roof, otherwise the roof will sag when the rack is fitted:

..
Item number : 8.96.311
Force (Newton (N)) : 600
Bracket piston rod : Ball- and socket joint
Bracket pressure tube : Ball- and socket joint
Brand : Hinscha
Reference : T5/T6 California 600N
A - Length (mm) : 956
E - Ø piston rod (mm) : 10
G - Ø pressure tube (mm) : 23
K - Stroke (mm) : 440

Yea good call, I will see how it goes first, the rack should be 25kg and I would remove anything on it before lifting so within 50% of the max load for lifting stated at 50kg.
