Mercedes Marco Polo Latest Info 2017

I just got mine a couple of weeks ago but I have successfully gone from back to front and front to back. It would be slightly easier if the centre console wasn’t there but all I have to do is lift my foot a bit to get over it.
I should qualify this by saying that from the driver's seat you do need to have racked the seat right back because you also have the added encumbrance of the steering wheel.

yes its a French bulldog. the rears seats are part leather, take a look at the side walls. of the rear seat

Well, Frenchie, I think you have managed to be both 100% accurate and misleading at the same time. In common parlance part leather seats would generally indicate seats where the side bolsters are leather and the central inserts are cloth, a bit like these snazzy seats:

The outside side panels a little way below the seat shoulders (where the two seats touch and the outside next to the cupboards / inside of the van) are cloth but you can only see this if say one seat is reclined further than the other. People may prefer "part leather" or not but they would be typically thinking of something quite different to what you are referencing.

However I am prepared to concede that your dog is a full French bulldog rather claiming it must be part "bull".

marco polo thread doing well. not seen one yet. i keep looking out for them. off to motorhone show Harrogate tomorrow. any mercs coming? id love to have a nose round one.

Got my mp two days ago. Have severe back problems but easy to get from front to back _ perhaps it depends on your build?
Love the split tailgate - so useful for me at home with restricted parking on our forecourt and also at our local Waitrose!
The rear electric seats are lovely to sit in - recline as much as you like and bolster at the sides as well
I agree the arrangement in the boot for the seats is not ideal but the bag does divide up the storage areas nicely into three. I might just ditch the bag if I find it a problem but the rear split tailgate advantage outweighs the California seat storage for my needs. Overall, thie storage of the seats was such a minor issue for me, bu5 maybe not for other people.
I got the auxiallary heater which is fantastic - probably like the vw one and think it should be standard for the uk market. However, when I ordered my mp it was actually quite a bit cheaper than the same spec California. The disadvantage is that you don’t get the choice of specs that you do with the Cali and also if you don’t want all the bells and whistles that mb offer on the base vehicle then then the vw option might well be better.
I notice that vw are following a number of the mp / westfalia options but I do hope they dont become too similar, otherwise we won’t have a choice. Different is good as people are different!

I believe this thread is here (and so long) because they are so similar, otherwise we would discuss all T6 conversions..and other competing models of more or less same size on the outside.

When I was looking for my Caravelle I looked at the v class and the vanio. At the commercial dealers I was offered a 10% discount on an already very good price without any haggling. The dealer said he would love to sell as many Mercedes as VW sold T6s. One thing that I was very impressed with was back up you get. On the Mercedes you get a 30 year breakdown cover provided you get it serviced. The warranty is very comprensive and is unlimited mileage for 3 years. A local chauffeur company only uses Mercedes and BMW just because of the warranty and have successfully claimed when an ecu needed to be replaced at 325000 miles just a month before the warranty ran out.
The down side is that the resell value is not the same as a VW.
If VW is reading this then they should take note as they could see a shift from VW to Mercedes on the camp sites if Europe.

I'm following the MP forum and Facebook page trying to take an impartial view of the Mercedes / vw choice, but I'm really struggling to get over my initial impression that the MP is just shockingly ugly and unbalanced. I know the Transporter isn't pretty but its hard to take offence at.

I'm often slow to adapt to change so I thought my initial impression would fade, but it hasn't, at all.

I saw one the other day in Stratford Upon Avon. Metallic Blue and I really liked the look of it.
It’s a refreshing change from the Transporter which seems to be everywhere these days.

It’s nice to be different.

Could admin arrange for me to receive a confirmation email on the sister site - Marco Polo Owners Club. Having no luck over several days. Thanks

@Vale46 AKA polokev --- or polyokov but with all the novochock floating around I wouldn't use that one :shocked

What username did you use please ?

Seems Mercedes have followed VW in stopping deliveries of the MP due to emissions. Every manufacturer will be subject to similar problems.

Somewhat spookily, I keep seeing Marco Polo ads on my FB page.

Is it because I'm in frequent contact with VW HQ about my still broken windscreen & have been thinking dark thoughts?? (-:

Yes, delays for the MP deliveries, blaming the KBA.

Expecting Jan 19 now.

I'm wondering if the VW emissions issue was actually a tactic to get it dealt with early (ie before September) so (a) they didn't have too much unsold stock around come 1st September that didn't have a WLTP test certificate and (b) because they knew the order in which manufacturers were getting vehicles tested and they knew they'd pick up even more cali orders when the MP got delayed... (over the summer too, ouch).

It appears the honeymoon for the Marco Polo is over and reality is setting in.
Fibreglass roofs are having to be replaced and at least one example of the replacement having to be replaced.
Corrosion on some internal fittings relating to the upper bed etc:.
Problems getting competitive insurance because the Marco Polo V5c has M1, Body Type MPV, so Specialist Insurance companies are refusing to cover.

It seems both the California and the Marco Polo have their problems and both have less than useful Dealerships.

One advantage of the VW, all parts, including the camping bits, come from VW.
With the Mercedes, vehicle parts come from Mercedes whereas the camping bits come from Westfalia.

I heard the other day from a new work colleague about his neighbours ruing the day they decided on the Marco Polo whlst he enquired about my Cali. Of course I don't have a clue what the issues have been but they are pretty fed up.
