I have Apple Carplay wireless in my T6.1 and so its all great and works seamlessly, on short journeys i leave the phone in my pocket and its fine, when we go on longer trips I want my phone to be charging and so I tend to stick it in the cupholder in the dash and plug into the USB C.

It works as I don't need to see or touch the phone but wondered if there is a more elegant solution that maybe even gives me the cupholder back. I've looked at the Brodit mounts as have one in my other car but given I don't need to see the phone they feel a bit over engineered and the Brandrup one feels super expensive for what is a pocket with some velcro.... anyone else come up with something as a solution already?

PS I have an Apple iPhone 15 and do I was thinking the magsafe charging method might be an option?

I’d try and put it somewhere where you’re not tempted to touch it while driving.
I have the Brandrup one and it’s great.
Also make sure to only connect via usb for apple as the BT connection has “features” read bugs.

I used to use the cup holder, but I wanted a cup holder for my water.
As coffee goes up top !

We also have the Brandrup one and it is excellent. You can apply the ‘super expensive’ argument to most of their stuff - most things California for that matter- but it is generally good quality and well designed, and tbh not really a significant outlay in the grand scheme of things for something that will be used every time you get in the vehicle.

I have the predecessor to this current model from Benks. The mounting system attaches perfectly with the louvres on the vent to the right of the instrument cluster. Study (even with a mag compatible case on the iPhone) and the mag charging works well.
