I have come up with a simple fix to stop the MFB from folding unnecessarily.

You will need a piece of wood 200mm long and 35mm wide (depth is not important) and a smaller piece 35 mm wide x 10mm deep x 20mm long. Glue the smaller piece to one end. This helps locate the support more securely. Then cable tie it to the metal brackets and it can easily be removed if you need to need to shorten the MFB.
