Fitted the new T7 Space Mate, superb bit of kit, given the depth under the rear shelf is nearly a metre, this is a life (back) saver.
Second photo is the frame from the inside. Also showing the new VW adjustable load rings which I use to strap down a couple of EcoFlow power banks side by side.
The rear frame doesn’t interfere with the rear seats at all and have now tried it with 80kg at the end of the drawer to see if it had any impact on the slide. View attachment IMG_6857.jpegView attachment IMG_6858.jpeg

I concluded that I didn’t need a Spacemate in my T6.1 due to the way I pack my boot space. However seeing this in the T7 I think it’s so essential it should be a VW fitment or at least a factory option.

Was thinking about the boxes sliding around in the boot and wrecking the floor.
Are they local to Redditch @sticky1
?
Will have to get one.
Where did you get load track luggage tie downs ?

Brilliant, just what I was looking for for my wife’s disabled buggy to go into the T7. How do I go about ordering one of these from the company?

Interesting when you compare dimensions of the Spacemate, the T7 boot looks to be 200mm deeper than the previous T6.1. Have to say the Spacemate is the best accessory I bought for my California.

They’re a VW part, came with the Ocean. Hopefully someone will know the part number.
Oh, they came with the ocean?
How many did you get ?
2 or 4?
I’ll have to add it to my checklist.

Received our space mate for T7
this week just finished fitting it into the ocean. Brilliant bit of kit means I can get my wife’s disabled buggy store underneath really easily. Thank you for all the help from Simon

Hi guys, I am thinking about one of these for our T7 Ocean, do you know if it is possible to get into the hatch of the gas bottle on the RH side, and the hatch on the LH side for the warning triangle and bits with the tray installed?

I have one for our Ocean. You need to undo the fixing nuts at the back and slide the tray back into the van to get access to the gas locker. You probably won't do this very often so not much of a problem and easy to do. You can still get in the other hatch if needed.

You can always leave the gas hatch door off if you change gas bottles frequently.

Best addition I have got for our van as it makes getting things out the boot easier.

Thanks hogmeister, that is useful to know. Is it possible to do that with the tray full or do you have to unload it all? We have been stopped on ferry crossings twice previously by enthusiastic staff who asked us to show that the gas was turned off at the cylinder.

Easier if tray is empty. Can be done if loaded up but requires a decent shove.
You can always leave the gas locker cover off for easy access. CaliChris on YouTube has done a fitting video on a T7 Ocean where he does that. Worth a watch.

The gas locker is still sealed behind the other hatch behind which you can remove for access.
