Muting Audio on Discovery Pro

Does anybody know if there’s any way to mute the volume on California 6.1 with a discovery pro audio system I seen posts mention pushing the off button on the unit itself but is there anyway or anything on the steering controls that will do this?

In the Home Screen (not the menu screen), swipe left to get the second screen - on mine there is a shortcut mute button

There is not a shortcut mute button on the T6.1 steering wheel. Only shortcut I found on my centre console so far is in the drop down menu when listening to the radio. That’s better than the short press on the power on/off button but still not as good as having a mute button on the steering wheel (a big design oversight IMHO).

Use the down volume button on the steering wheel whilst an announcement is playing.

Found it!... you could hold down the volume down button on the steering wheel till it reaches zero and simultaneously pausing music OR just press the on/off button on the head unit

What exactly were you looking for ?
when music plays you can adjust volume from steering wheel, even down to 0 (Mute). This will not affect volume of traffic messages. While message plays you can adjust sound volume of messages from steering wheel.In the menu you can set volume of audio and messages and how audio volume lowers during message.
If for some reason you want to mute audio quickly there is no shortcut on steering wheel but volume down button on steering wheel does not take long.
I would not dive in to the menus to find the mute button during ride. Mute means something else attracts your attention and this is not the menu of center console.

That was my point the only option I could find was a short cut on Home Screen

Yes exactly. No mute button for 'emergency' silence (parking, .. is that a emergency vehicle i can hear,.. someone comnes to the window to speak..) I realise you can use the steering wheel volume, but it does take quite a while when you want to just mute immediately.

im really happy with the power button now (altho, my other cars have much better audio control on the steering wheel which I would have preferred on the van )

Seems to be a backward step. On my RNS510 there is a PHONE button that mutes everything apart fro Navigation messages.
