N/S LED headlight for T6.1 California Ocean - VW part no. "7L2 941 773 A’ - August 2021

Good morning all.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to where I might be able to procure, at a competitive price, a brand new or as-new headlight - as above - beyond the obvious VW, LLL-Parts (awaiting a quote) or eBay (none found so far)?

I’m wondering about specialist breakers maybe dealing exclusively in lights etc., and thought the forum might provide me a helpful shortcut to hours of web-searching!

Many thanks in advance for any help or ideas.

John.

Kernow Transporters?

Hazzydayz - they do retrofits so may be able to give a discount?

Kernow Transporters?
Richard + Kernow Transporters helped me out this morning, I broke my arm rest, bought the repair kit from Amazon but managed to damage the adjusting wheel putting it back together !
VW wanted £220 for a new arm rest, he sorted me out a new wheel for £10 delivered. Also managed to get a couple of replacement step light covers.
I have used him a few times before so I think he helped me out a bit.

I just called Kernow, but sadly he couldn't help - not clear why, just said he doesn't handle those parts.

HazzyDayz couldn't approach 30% off list which I've managed to wangle from a dealer. That still hurts too much, so I'm seeing if I can find anything as-new, but S/H!

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions.

Theres about 9 new ones on ebay , £722 for the cheapest - just search by the part number without the spaces.
Don't know how that compares price wise with VW?

Thanks.

I think, given the immense expense (and waste*) in replacing the whole light, I’m gonna have to learn to live with it - the light and the lens and the headlamp’s function are completely uncompromised* - it’s only got a nasty bruise at the lower mid edge of the cover, and a crack in the interior lower between-elements twinkly ‘trim’ bit which is nothing to do with illumination!

A crafty black insulation tape pinstripe along the entire lower 10mm of the glass (identical on both sides of course) is already doing a fine job of disguise / drawing the eye away!

It could even become the next demon tweak . . .

PS does anyone know if you can separate the front glass from the rest of the lamp unit in a non-catastrophic and reversible way ?

Is the plastic cover part the same across all headlights? and can it be separated? you can guess where I'm going with this.....

Yes indeed, that would be handy to know . . .

I know the LED internal bits comes out as two separate lamp units - they have separate part number but not available separately, just wondering if thats the case, is there anywhere you could get the light without those internals, & actually as its the lamp thats different for LHD whether a LHD unit would work if you swapped the lamps.

I’m off sailing tomorrow for 8 days, so this is a research job to be done on the high seas, or in harbour when the sun is over the yardarm ;/\

Look on the T6 forum - someone there did put a H4 front lens on a LED headlight following damage, lots of careful heating to soften the glue etc

Just this minute seen it:

Good night all !
