So is it a petrol heater as opposed to a diesel heater in the petrol or hybrid version?

Petrol in the TSI.
In the Hybrid all electric, EV battery or plug in.

Either so it seems. Only used the timed Departure mode so far. Switches AirCon and Heated Seats and or Windscreen heaters for a timed departure.

Does anyone have any idea when we might see some of the Multivan Cali demos in the UK? Really want to see the differences in the Coast vs. Ocean interiors.

The base vehicle dictates the twin opening doors as it's car not van based. This has meant the kitchen had to change etc. MPV seats and not a rock n roll bed is another cost saving. Completely different to previous Cali's and has split the camp, Marmite indeed.

It throws a real spanner in the works.
Wondering why I would ever consider one, over a really good estate car…?

lots to absorb - no interest in the new Beach for my next van (am I also reading it right there's no roof bed?) and weighing-up differences between the Coast & Ocean. I'm not bothered about the IQ lights & powered roof, but £3,120 is a big ask for a heater ...

This is a top and bottom bed in the beach, the bottom was is as big as the top, so wider than the coast or ocean. The difference is that the beach has a mini kitchen now in the boot at 3 seats at the back.

I keep thinking that there’s no way the downstairs bed design is genuinely this stupid - so very happy to be corrected…

Popped into Breeze to drop off our Cali for a service. In the showroom was the New California. We had a look around and both of us agreed that it is a lot smaller than our T6.1 and there is a severe lack of storage. We liked the twin sliding doors and that you can access the fridge from outside, but that severely reduced the size of the other storage cupboards, etc. Wish I had taken some photos.

A lot of the length of the van is lost in the front. Look at the position of the front wheels in comparison with the front doors.
The inside space isn't bigger, and if it is, it's only a very little bit.
The T7 Multivan is just a new Sharan, so it lacks the versatility of a Transporter.

And I have driven 3 Golfs, and now I drive a luxurious builder's van. And I don't regret it.
I can now drive 600km in one day, and don't feel butchered when I get out of the van.
If I have driven 2 hours in a low car, I am much more exhausted, but the ride was a bit smoother.
Luckily not everyone has the same taste, otherwise it would be very boring in the outside world.

Well, I now have a Multivan. It’s a lot more than a “ luxurious builder’s van “ and nor is it a “ low slung car “.
My longest trip so far is 210 miles non-stop and an absolute delight to drive.
Until you’ve driven one I don’t see how you can comment on the vehicle. Whether the Campervan conversion suits some is a different matter. Personally I think a Campervan is just that, not a mini Motorhome.
People will just have to get used to the fact that VW have moved on . If they don’t wish to move on then they’ll either have to keep their present vehicle or turn to 3rd Party Ford/VW commercial vehicle conversions.

That is why I will try to keep my T5.1 as long as possible.
And of course the T7 Multivan has a better sit position than a Golf. And because of the platform it shares with normal cars, I really hope it's more comfortable.
And it should be a shame that a 2024 people carrier would not be more luxurious to drive than a 2003 van based campervan.
It was just a reaction to the fact that a longer vehicle doesn't necessarily mean more space inside, because of the platform it is based on.
