We took delivery of a new Beach in April, it has one sliding window on each side, according to the brochure it looks like I should have received at least one Fly Screen - but I had nothing at handover time

Could somebody kindly confirm if we should or should not have received fly screens at hand over time please?

Thanks

Fly screens were not standard on the MY17 Beach.

Ah ok, perfect - thanks for replying back,

Something else to dish out money to brandrup or maxxcamp for then - they must be loving the markup on their stuff

On a Ocean this is standard i think (or at least here it is )
There are a few for sale in the for sale section of the forum , allthough i do wonder why anyone with a Cali would sell them , they are very handy and usefull things

And the forum shop sure must have those also !?

Well I had spotted the Brandrup ones to be honest, but it mentions they require velcro which am not really a fan of sticking onto the interior of my van.

The Maxxcamp equivalent looks a better product to me and was planning on going with them

I don't think you should have but if you had whinged enough at handover or your dealer had failed in any way on the order, then they'd have gone to one of their demo Oceans and snaffled a pair for you. Worked a treat for us. :)

I didn't have any with mine (and I think on the T5 the second sliding window was an extra in itself), but I got them afterwards via the used section.

I had one with our previous SE. It just rattled around in the under seat drawer. Never did use it!

We're off to south west France in a few weeks, and I got the heebie-jeebies recently when spotted what the overnight temperature could be. The kids will be up top and if it's not cool enough still with the added overnight ventilation from these fly screens - I may well be ditching the wife (who can seemingly sleep through any temperature), and joining the kids up there...

Am getting used to the various rattles unfortunately, think i'll be forever chasing them..

Haha nice

It came from Guy at Preston, who did a great job - and there was nothing to really grumble about in our case

Or get some mesh and magnets from ebay. Much cheaper. Magnets sit on the mesh so don't touch the paintwork.

Hello, that's genius! I don't suppose you have a link to the mesh and magnets you bought, do you? :D

Hi Owlish

Doing this from my phone so hopefully the links work. These are the ones I used. Other vendors are available.

Magnets: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/132189707233

Mesh:

The other good thing with this approach is the mesh can fold right down into a little pack that can be stored easily. Mind you don't put the magnets near anything sensitive.

Thanks Chris - for the brilliant idea and the links, off to buy some now! Maybe we need a 'cheap beach hack' thread! x

Hi Owlish,
I can't claim to be the originator of the idea but no problems for the links. :)

I find the screens work well alongside the mosquito killer thing from the club shop: https://vwcaliforniaclub.com/shop/p...-1-led-light-and-ultra-violet-mosquito-killer

Good idea about a cheap beach hack thread. :)

Cheers Chris
