New Beach - should it come with Fly Screens as standard?

Hi Owlish

Doing this from my phone so hopefully the links work. These are the ones I used. Other vendors are available.

Magnets: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/132189707233

Mesh:

The other good thing with this approach is the mesh can fold right down into a little pack that can be stored easily. Mind you don't put the magnets near anything sensitive.

Is that mesh fine enough to stop Scottish midges?

Hi Alan,
Not sure I'm afraid. Probably better than nothing though.
Cheers Chris

No and neither is the mesh in the pop up roof.
Yes, hence the question.

The pictures didn't look like the mesh was any smaller that that already fitted but it was difficult to tell definitively. Probably a question to the supplier is needed.

Hi Alan - we went for the screen that ChrisS linked to from T5 Cotswold Parts in the end - a second hand but genuine VW one. I'm not sure whether it'd be OK for midges. We're not braving Scotland till perhaps October (when they've hopefully all gone!). Great with mossies though.

My genuine one still available at £25 if it helps anyone.

An update. Having used the mesh and magnets approach for a week or so, I can confirm that it works well, but the mesh doesn't like being folded and unfolded repeatedly. It starts to split eventually. So it either needs rolling up (rather than folding) when not in use, or different mesh is required. Possibly net curtain type material would be better, would probably also stop the midges, but would let less air through.
