New California. Should I take up a great deal on the T6.1 Should I wait for the T7?

It's clear now after earlier VW promo cockups that the new California is not the T7 and shouldn't be labelled as such, to avoid confusion it's a Multivan California. The Cali is now on a different platform to the past.
There is no T7 California, T7 is the new Transporter van (joint venture with Ford).
It’s even more confusing because the Ford Ranger uses T5, T6, T7 and T8 for different model years.

Hopefully more reliable than a Tardis...unless it comes with a Sonic Screwdriver and a K9

What! It isn't Tom Baker anymore!!

Yes that's helpful. T for Transporter and all that.
Multivan California suits it well.

Heard MV Cali order books open August. Apparently.

Thank you. Apparently the one burner thing was in response to customer feedback along with larger onboard water tank. Access from the left is useful too.
To be fair I don't ever think I used both rings. A lot of people (most?) would be similar.

i don't often use two rings, but i do use two pans, and i like having the space to put things, move them around etc.

We’re in the market for a new California after 26 years of towing a caravan.
There’s some great deals right now on remaining stock of T6.1 but T7 is out soon with the LWB and twin side doors.
Opinions welcome.
I looked at it from the view of usability. I’m in a large city, Nice, and the T6.1 will go everywhere (except in the bliddy tiny garages) whereas the New California is too long for car park spaces, too wide for supermarket spaces and too high for 2m access gates.
Easy decision with €13K off the usual France price and I’m waiting to pick up my 6.1 Gris Ascot just before Christmas

Agree that the length will make it a pain to park the T7 in town or navigate tight multi-storey car parks. But it’s the same height as the T6.1 so will fit under 2m barrier in the same way as the T6.1. And it’s less than 4cm wider - not great but won’t make much of a difference in car parks.

Yes, my mistake on the height. But from checking dozens of garages I’ve found only a couple without the usual 1.9m height restriction - and public car parks are built to this.
Width is 4cm greater and VW are v.cute in mostly using the mirrors-folded width in publicity.
I don’t need a second door taking up space and the 6.1 suits me

Thank you.
We would be looking at several holidays a year including touring in Europe.
Not just camping but some running about.
8,000 a year would cover it.
Yes there are other vehicles available for us to use.
My question was really about the differences between the two and the anticipated extra cost.
The T6.1 has reached its peak after evolving over a long time. Is it time for a LWB car type replacement or are VW spoiling their best camper?
It was a no brainer for me, went for a 6.1 last month, the very last of this excellent iconic campervan range.
