Question is : will the new shaped California be an EV vehicle only - or will.they also produce the diesel version for a while too - in the new design ? Does anyone know ?

Nobody knows for certain whether the next generation of California will be based on the all electric LWB ID Buzz Cargo OR the Ford Tourneo platform (joint venture between VW and Ford). Money is on the Ford as a plug in hybrid initially. The t6.1 is rumoured to cease production in 2024.

Sensible money will be on a Ford Transit Custom platform, built in Turkey but possibly finished in Hannover, Germany (although I can't see much sense in this personally). The German motor publications predict 2 diesel engine sizes and a plugin hybrid variant. Can't see a pure EV Cali being available for another 8-10 years.
