Been a cali owner since 2004. T4 California LHD 2001 102HP sold in 2010. Bought in 2010 a low mileage 2007 Dark blue T5 Cali 174HP in as-new condition. With our 2 kids we've toured Scandinavia, Baltics states, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, Med islands and North Africa. Love the power and economy of the T5 but sometimes miss the simple reliability of the T4. Do I really need an electric roof ?
We do love the T5 Cali on the autobahns and the interior is pretty slick. While we used the T4 as an everyday driver our T5 Cali is a bit spoilt. It has its very own garage in Sussex where it's left to hibernate through the winter with batteries on chargers while our poor high mileage Beemer X3 does all the hard graft.
