They'll probably sell it to anyone who still wants it!They could leave it in the ground.

The next big fight will relate to water. It should have been taken seriously years ago. Without usable water we're truly stuffed. From too much &/or too litle to pollution and terrorism, governments and organisations across the globe are really starting to panic. We've taken it for granted for far too long.Sadly we seem to be a species who tends to solve the problems after theyve done damage rather than before.
Truth is that if we don't kerb the population growth, nature will step in and do it for us, the hard way...
Look at how humans fought over oil (its good to see its value waning in the world), imagine how we would fight over food...
Where I live, I have seen this one a few times:Guess personalised licence plates like on this Tesla would show up more and more....
Spotted yesterday , you need enlarge a bit

So, Norway is banning sales of all ICE vehicles by 2025. Very progressive BUT will they still be selling their oil?! If not, they’ll have do something extraordinary to replace their oil revenues!!

“Norway is in the global top 7 exporters of crude oil. The oil and gas sector constitutes around 18% of Norwegian GDP and 62% of Norwegian exports in 2018/19.”
AgreedNorway has over a Trillion dollars in the bank. I don’t think they need to rely on their oil and gas reserves anymore.

So, they could stop exporting their oil today then (or very soon)? Why don’t they? Surely exporting pollutants doesn’t sit comfortably?Norway has over a Trillion dollars in the bank. I don’t think they need to rely on their oil and gas reserves anymore.

Why butcher the goose with the golden eggs? So, they could stop exporting their oil today then (or very soon)? Why don’t they? Surely exporting pollutants doesn’t sit comfortably?
Why don’t other countries stop buying it instead? So, they could stop exporting their oil today then (or very soon)? Why don’t they? Surely exporting pollutants doesn’t sit comfortably?

In such a short timescale that’s easier said than done. Do you drive a diesel Cali? Why don’t other countries stop buying it instead?
Norway: Environmental Issues, Policies and Clean Technology
The northernmost country in Western Europe, Norway, the land of the midnight sun, is known for its fjords, or long, narrow and mountainous inlets, along its coast. Two of these fjords, the Geirangerfjord and the Nærøyfjord, feature on the UNESCO World Heritage list.www.azocleantech.com
Like blaming the drug addicts and justifying the drug dealers? Why don’t other countries stop buying it instead?
NopeIn such a short timescale that’s easier said than done. Do you drive a diesel Cali?
Nobody is forcing people to buy it from them, Russia has plenty too.Like blaming the drug addicts and justifying the drug dealers?
Sorry, with due respect that doesn't answer the question.Nobody is forcing people to buy it from them, Russia has plenty too.
I’m intrigued.Nope
Probably petrol then?I’m intrigued.
All Cali’s are ICE powered and this forum is called the VW California Club. If you don’t mind me asking, what do you drive?
Norway are not responsible for how countries mange their environmental policies. They are diversifying their economy to be less reliant on oil and gas revenues. If Norway didn't sell it another country would fill the gap, so the impact on the environment would be the same.If they stop selling oil their 1 trillion usd won't last them long
Sorry, with due respect that doesn't answer the question.
That 1 trillion it is also the reason why they can afford to subsidise the purchase of their Teslas. And we know how they got that 1tr, it's in the very wiki article you posted.
They could ban ic vehicle from today, Norway it's a tiny market, and 86% of that tiny market is already ev.
If we want to apply the same subsidies to a big market like uk or germany, it will be impossible. Too many vehicles , too much revenue lost from tax from fuel, tax on vehicles, and if everyone owns an electric car, will we really be allowed all of us to drive on bus lanes??
Until now EV work only as a niche, for a few users. Infrastructure still very far away to accomodate 30m vehicle per country. The cost of electricity will skyrocket, not only for the demand, but the government will need to tax it to replace revenue lost in selling petrol.
So more expensive cars, even more expensive fuel.
It's nice to fantasise about electric vehicle, all cool Elon's mates, but we are not even close to a plan to make 30m vehicles per country feasible.
You asked me if I drove a diesel and I don’t....I’m intrigued.

The UK deadline for the switch is 2035. I imagine large cities will adopt the much change earlier. If Norway can pull it off then good luck to them but the UK electrcity distribution network is years away from being able to support mainstream electric vehicle use.
At the moment its a niche club of early adopters. It will increase but only to the point where the infrastructure prevents growth.
The VW California Club is the worlds largest resource for all owners and enthusiasts of VW California campervans.
