I have just received a quote from VW France that nearly gave me a heart attack. After paying over 1 000 euros for a service on my GT 6 2020 45 000kms last week, I have this quote for: replacement of a seal due to an oil leak, including replacement of the distribution kit that must be done during the operation: 2 000 euros.
Madre de dios! Is this real? Can someone advise me please? Am I being ripped off?

4x114 euros labour
1 240 euro kit distribution
Belts 72 euro
Flange 137.80 euro
+ small charges for parts

Quotation is in French, but that's it essentially. This vehicle has cost me a fortune, now this shock.

I make that 1K, not 2K. Not sure if before or after VAT, but let's say 1.2K Euro, or just over 1k GBP.

The labour cost, assuming a main dealer, looks about right.

So basically 4 hours work plus parts.

Again, all seems right.

Now - should it have gone wrong and why is it not warranty, is a different question, assuming you have a warranty that has not ran out.

The whole job would be a lot cheaper at an independent.

1,240 Euro Kit Distribution I think = 2k total

Google tells me it is more likely a timing belt kit inc a water pump, hence the (dealer) cost.

They can be bought online for 1/4 of that.

Okay.....good conclusion. Crank seals are weak. Mine weeps slightly at the DSG end, I checked this at 65k after covering a few thousands miles after the health check comment (second comment) and haven't bothered as the weep was not present / visble.

Last two services and all fine under the subsquent VW health checks. VW were not concerned just said it needs to be monitored.

If its belt end, just have the belt changed earlier and the seal replaced.
