I just googled it - not quite. UK coastline is nearly 13000km

You can’t drive along (most) of the coastline.

I wonder what the road distance around Great Britain is, keeping as close to the coast as possible but without ever passing the same bit of road twice would be?

And what would the fuel saving be going anti-clockwise instead of clockwise?

I saw an article about a guy who did it in a Morgan and I am sure it was about 5500 miles but there was no route map so couldn't tell where he went.

I’m a bit jealous. That’s the dream to have a roadtrip in Cali (we also have Beach), drive along coast in Australia or New Zealand. Never gonna happen. Enjoy it guys.

Beach has manual roof = no electric / hydraulic issues

We did that trip in 1970 in a 1200 split screen combi. From Sydney Adelaide up to Alice then across to Perth. Top speed 45mph (down hill) 18 mpg. Broke down 13 times. Threw a Conrod just outside Alice. Took 6 weeks. Happy days.
