Overnight parking near Bilbao

Can anyone recommend somewhere to stay/park up for a night or possibly two in or near Bilbao, in mid July? We're taking the Cali on the Plymouth - Santander ferry then travelling across the top of Spain to visit various friends in the south of France. Thought we could stop off and look at the Guggenheim and maybe a bit of coast, but the campsites look huge noisy ones and won't accept reservations in advance for just one night at this time of year.

I'd head down towards San Sebastian which is a lovely little resort town. There are a number of campsite options on this site, non of which I've used I have to add:

If you fancy going further afield there is a small municipal at a place called Sanguesa near to Pamplona which I did use a couple of years ago. That was quite a good spot with a bar and restaurant on site. Food was excellent and very cheap.
