We are planning a few days in Paris, taking the California, but for practical reasons we won't be camping in the van on this occasion. We'd like to book an Airb&b, but if impossible we'll hotel it. Does anyone have any recommendations for secure parking in or near the centre of Paris that allows the height of the California? So many seem to have height restrictions far below the van.

You can search Airbnbs for parking, look at the outskirts of Paris for a place close to the Metro or rer.

£50 per night for up to six people; 20 mins by rer to central Paris; 3 parking spaces.

I’ve stayed at this campsite October 2017. They have a shuttle bus to the local metro station.

We parked in one in Montparnasse, but I've searched and can't find/remember exactly which it was, sorry! You can find most of the undergrounds' height limits online with a bit of searching. Most of them are very tight, but that's half the fun!

Montmarte, up the top by Sacre Coure.....you will find a spot by the Church there with a sweeping view of Paris to wake up to in the morn.

We gave up looking for a car park, really couldn't find a single place, made so many phone calls, looked through so many parking apps. So, guess where we're going...? Camping Paris (found that then just saw your post Alied - thanks!).

Just a little bit of information for you. If you are entering Camping Paris from the opposite side of the road there is a traffic light controlled lay-by that you have to enter https://goo.gl/maps/1jEPa6R9AKn.
