Parking ticket.

Good ness me - are they all NT places? And for how long can members park there leaving vehicle unnatended? What about overnight?
No overnight parking in NT car parks, but members can stay until the closing time of the carpark. I should add that in summer they can get pretty congested!

Depends on closing times. Many Cornish Coastal sites have ticket machines, these read membership cards & issue a ticket, some accept payment. Others may be unrestricted. Some CPs are barriered. 'Closing' times are normally posted. Cape Cornwall, for instance has a Summer Daytime guardian, also a ticket machine & toilets. No enforced closing times. It is lovely place, great for walks & Sunsets but a steeply sloping CP. Wouldn't want to stay there overnight.

Top Tip........Join the National Trust / English Heritage and park your vehicle FOC in their car parks, many in AONB's.
Don't misuse Natinal Trust car parks. They are for visiting places / Houses own by NT and not for visiting the local area.

Oh dear! As long as you are abiding by the written rules on the timings etc, is that not fair use? What constitutes misuse? if I am a member that's a benefit that comes along with my membership?

Respectfully, I don't think that I suggested 'misuse' of CPs whatever your interpretation of misuse is. Merely suggested that CPs are available FOC to members. NT owns / is custodian of considerable, sometimes vast stretches of local areas throughout E & W which it allows full often free access for members and others to visit.

I read back to the OP on this thread. Short summary, in Pembrokeshire, parking a California in a designated campervan spot attracts a fine as it’s not a campervan.

Somatics of the definition of a campervan aside and V5 vs VW marketing, it intrigued me as to the differences between councils.

In Dorset, it’s most definitely designated a campervan, as I received a fine for parking in a normal bay.

Having read that county’s rules, if it’s greater than 4.8m and is equipped for sleeping or has a kitchen it’s a campervan.

I understand councils have an issue with the explosion of the VW conversion scene post Covid.

The pedant in me would like to take them to task in terms of the absolute definition of a campervan,

The realist in me made me acknowledges that without a vast class action of sorts, I might as well go shout down a drainpipe.

I saved my energy and paid the fine.

As a NT non-member, I use their car parks quite a lot as a starting point for a walk and rarely visit the NT property. Seems a legitimate use to me so I don't see why doing the same as a member would be any different.

NT were trialling overnight stays in 1 or 2 places (Aira Force?) a couple of years back. No idea whether it came to anything.

It owns a 500 acre common next to me, plus swathes of the communal land in our village.

Love Wadborough & Minch, was there only on Saturday, watching Warpigs v Minch RFC....
Minch RFC is a brilliant club. I watched Tindall captain an ex international invite XV there vs Gloucester when HRH opened the clubhouse.

Great setup. They host car meets there now and again.

I’ll shout you a pint of Budding next time you’re down.

If you tie one on, pop the top and hey presto, Minch RFC is your Air BnB for the night!

(One thousand pardons for thread hijack, the child in me can’t resist)

Apologies, I misread your comment. The fact that NT exists and they take care of these vast stretches of land is in itself commendable (leaving aside all else that's happening with the NT, which is another discussion). Let's all be responsible users of the resources we have.

They own a lot more car parks than houses, who are they for then?

I have a March 2020 T6.1 California Coast TDI S-A (don't know what S-A means?). In the V5 the body type is MPV and the Taxation Class is Diesel Car. I have been paying the higher rate 'luxury car tax'. Were later registered Californias given the taxation class Motor Caravan and the luxury vehicle tax exemption?

Regarding the parking issues, if the car park enforcer looks up the DVLA definitions for my vehicle then I need to park in a car bay. But if the parking sign specifies classification on cooking and sleeping provisions then I become a camper van!

When I have booked onto Brittany Ferries I have always paid as a private car and it has never been questioned.
Interesting....
Our V5 says Motor Caravan - so where I have assumed I'll be paying upwards to £600 RFL I won't?? (fingers crossed)

I booked our Brittany Ferries just after we get the Cali last month - I chose the Motorhome option - not sure what the cost difference was but figured I'd do it right after being told off for forgetting to book my bike rack on the Volvo tis year.

I thought the only T6.1 to pay the luxury car tax was the Beach Tour, so that doesn’t sound right.

Regarding parking, no attendant is going to look up on DVLA. They will just see a pop top and slap a ticket on the windscreen as it looks like a camper. I know coastal car parks in Dorset now have some stringent definitions for campers, which does put me off visiting.
I wonder if a copy of the V5 highlighting what it is next to the parking ticket might help them

For any parking tickets people should check out tbe pepipoo forum.
