Plastic inserts in footwells

Does anyone know how to remove these please?

I have pulled the interior of my Cali apart recently to install some audio so am well versed on removing most of the interior trim.
1) Remove the 'California' footwell light using a large screwdriver (or better still a plastic trim removal tool) by prising out from the inner end 1st and it should pop out. Disconnect the plug at the back.
2) Remove the B pillar trim - its very hard to remove the footwell insert without removing this 1st as there is an inaccessible trim clip that join the 2 together at the bottom. I learned this the hard way after breaking the clip on the 1st side I did.
3) Remove the lower half of the door seal around the insert.
4) Using a trim tool / large screwdriver, prise the insert up from the inside (the flat edge facing the carpet) and it will pop up. Like most things in the Cali, it take way more force than you are sometimes comfortable using to do the last step but both the insert and the clips on the bottom are strong so dont be worried about using some muscle.
