Hi All,

We're off to the Italian lakes and the south of France next month for a few weeks. This is our first outing across the channel since the carefree pre covid days, when we'd just rock up at sites and, invariably, find they had spare capacity.

Those who have already ventured 'over there' in recent times, have you found that site capacity is still generally available, or do you consider that pre booking is now necessary, owing to higher usage?

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Best

Mike

We just got back from two weeks in France. We got as far as the Loire. No issues for us just, as you put it, rocking up and getting a pitch. On one site we were the only campers over nighting! Otherwise plenty of room.

We've just come back from a five week trip, we used the ACSI discount card for most stops - offers cheaper camping in the low season, dates vary but would still mostly be applicable in June.
We were mainly in the Loire Atlantique and Brittany, nearly all sites were very quiet with lots of space and you can choose your pitch. There were two sites that were very busy/close to full, but both times these were bank holidays weekend for the French. It felt that there were a lot more French motorhomes around generally, compared with pre COVID trips, we didn't see many UK plates.
