Pubs with campsites

Home Farm, Radnage nr Stokenchurch

Not a pub with a campsite but a campsite with a pub at the entrance.

The landlord is very helpful - we booked the site and then tried to book in the pub for dinner; they were fully booked but responded by giving me names and numbers for all the local establishments.

Very close to the Motorway but very quiet with basic facilities. A brilliant site if you want to sit and watch the Red Kites/Buzzards/Kestrels.

Gwithian Farm (Cornwall) also has a pub right next to it. Handy.

Or for slightly off the wall, Tristram campsite (overlooks Polzeath beach) has a curry restaurant (with bar) as part of the grounds. Eating a jalfrezi while watching the sun set is a pleasant experience. Shame the campsite is SO expensive!

The Red River inn opposite - lovely pub with the most amazing food :)

We saw Paul Heaton play here

They have a field you can camp in at the back of the pub, there are no facilities as such, though the toilets are left open all night. it's a cracking pub and a nice part of the world :)

The last time I looked, it was for sale! But decent ales (rare) and nice looking food (not actually eaten there!). It's a good area - with Sunset Cafe (Gwithian), Sandsifter (currently on a good streak after constantly being bought by new owners!), the Red River and the cafe by Godrevy car park. Sadly if you want one of those cool chalet type places by the beach, you need at least £300k - for a sort of shed! One went up for £1m recently (although it's massive - but still a big shed with virtually no land!) :shocked :shocked We rented a small one a while back - very pleasant.

We plan to go back to the campsite next year and explore the beach and headland. We did a flying visit and spent much of the time in St ives with my Dad.

I think my general plan is within the next few years to probably move down to Devon or Cornwall and escape from Essex

Shout if you need any pointers. We moved down in 1989 (I was 14) from Surrey. Best thing my parents ever did!

There's a cove around the corner from Godrevy beach that always has at least half a dozen seals (inaccessible by car or foot) - I've seen 40+ there before. A must see for your next trip!

Thanks for the recommendation - we're just back from a couple of nights at http://www.masonsarmsodcombe.co.uk/ - they're open all year. The shower block is small but clean and warm, they brew their own ale, produce great food (using eggs from their own chickens and homegrown veg) - very friendly and as an added bonus Paula, one of the owners, is a dog agility trainer with a course set up. So Helen ran our two around the course before we left.

They even have various laminated 'village walk' cards of differing lengths that you can borrow,in the shower block

Highly recommended, we'll go back

It is a C&C Club-exclusive site.

Glad you liked it there Ian, last time we went we stayed at there b&b which is equally as nice with complimentary beer and wine in the room and excellent breakfasts, also the dog can sit next to you in the restaurant.

Not a pub with a campsite but more a campsite with a pub, oh and a brewery :laugh2

Red Shoot in the New Forest

We've stayed there and had a great time. Lovely spot with really nice facilities.

Well recommended.

this is a lovely place. Stayed during Beer festival!!!!

This might be a little left-field, but I live near a site that looks pretty interesting in Milton Keynes.

It's a Camping and Caravan Club site located adjacent to a Kids play attraction called Gullivers Land. Possibly of more interest are the two pubs in (short) walking distance - The Barge (great traditional), and a big brewers fayre style pub overlooking Willen Lake.

OS Map Reference: 152 - SP871399. Latitude: 52.0517 Longitude: -0.7307

You would probably never consider a visit to MK, but there's plenty to see and do, and its just off the M1 @J14.

In the unlikely event that you want any further information, get in touch.

I was looking around there yeaterday as it happens. I've a 30 mile commute to my workplace in MK and thought it might be nice to camp for a week or two in the spring within cycling distance of work - and let my good lady do the commute instead for a couple of weeks! This looks like quiet a nice spot.

Californiaman - its real quiet and within minutes of loads of things to do. On Willen Lake springtime onwards are loads of watersports, good walks and the previously mentioned pubs! Let me know if you heading this way - I'll buy you a beer.

Ace. Sounds like a plan for the spring!

No, Tim & I both live in MK !

Always worth a visit!

Very basic facilities but always a warm welcome and a few parties going on.

Very true... well worth a visit!

You can park right in the corner of the carpark next to the shingle. The food is dead good in the pub. Local fish and lamb off the Romney Marsh.

Crikey that brought back some memories, I went to that pub and had the most amazing fish and chips about 24-25 yrs ago when working down in the area, I was but a lad at the time.

Might have to give that a whirl.

Recommended elsewhere on the forum, but we stayed last week and would recommend. The pub was great with very good food.

Only downside, the camping prices were a little high, apart from that we couldn't fault it.
