OK this is perhaps one for the BRAVE!!!

:D

A bikers pub with live music every saturday. Friendly staff.

FREE campsite as long as you use the pub for food and drink! Owner - He is quite anti-campervanners as they turn up and stay in their van!! NOOOOO!!!!! They depend on the income from the bikers who stop and camp so we understood why he disliked the 'vanners' a bit. I hope we went some way of changing his mind.....

We stopped here and were "lucky" as they had room for us. The band was great and the price for food is extremely good - however we didn't see the signs and we ate in our van!! our excuse was that we had our dog with us! Ooops!

However we went in to watch the band and had a few drinks - they do sell Thatchers Gold cider but unfortunately they'd ran out....

However for a cheap stopover then it's one to maybe check out???

The Eels Foot Inn near Sizewell, Suffolk Highly Recommended.

Although we had a pitch at the big site in Aldeburgh, we stayed over here for a night after the manager personally guided us through the menu and magic'd up a lovely gluten free recipe for my wife. Real ales on tap, really friendly and right by an RSPB reserve (Minsmere). It's a Caravan Club CL but for Calis there's always space in the car park and the loos are open overnight. Lovely quiet location and we wish we'd found this before paying a stupid £26 fee in Aldeburgh for a frankly soulless, wind riven spot where they wanted another £8 for a hookup.. Ugh.

Stayed here over New Year 2010/11
Decent place, facilities a bit basic, but adequate. What really sells it is the menu in the pub, and the welcoming hosts. A bit chilly at that time of year, but snugly wrapped up in the Cali with the programmable heater...bliss!
Some decent walks in the area too, although I haven't personally tried them

Trooper Inn, Stourton Caundle, Dorset

R doo all
Trooper Inn nr Sherbourne/Yeovil. :D
Pottering our way to West Country. Used this CCC - CS Site for an overnighter, although anyone can turn up/book. 5 pitches, cple tents big. Cracking showers/loos spotless while we where there. Pub great/chilled out/small. Middle of nowhere really, used by us as a stopover.
Would def use again. :clap
Locals/barstaff chatty/approachable.
Chicken coop, bird of prey (peregrine) behind pub, small playstuff for very young bairns.

Highest pub in the land, Tan Hill Inn, North Yorkshire

Second highest, Cat & Fiddle near Buxton

Pre Cali days but both these pubs will let you stay in the car park for the price of a meal and a pint. Bit of an epic trip in one day this Feb in the old Bongo.

We have used a few pub sites for one-night escapes - a Friday night in the pub followed by biking/boating on Saturday
Woodbridge Inn, near Pewsey, Wiltshire http://www.thewoodbridgeinn.co.uk/Camping.html

Had a club weekend there last summer (camping in the pre-Cali era) and took over the whole field. New toilet blocks and some more hook-ups added. Basic but friendly and we will be going again this year. The pub was taken over last Christmas and new Landlord is very keen and friendly.

Recommended and a good thread to keep up-to-date.

Spent a couple of nights at the Helwith Bridge Inn, between Settle and Horton-in-Ribblesdale over the Easter weekend. You can camp for free in the pub's large car park, on the understanding that you eat in the pub. That's no hardship as they have a large menu, the food is great and very reasonably priced. They also have a good selection of local ales. Dogs are welcome in the nice traditional bar with open fire and also in the dining room which has a view of the Ribble, the Settle-to-Carlisle railway and the bridge. Facilities are limited - an outside loo with washbasin, with hot water only available outside pub opening hours. The landlord and staff were very welcoming and the pub Jack Russel was too!

There were a few mobile homes there, the word has obviously got around. If the car park is full, just across the road is an extensive picnic area with tables and hard standing, Calis will fit under the entrance barrier but mobile homes will not, so there should always be space. They have a camping field and bunk barn too

A great place to stay if you are walking in the Three Peaks area or just visiting the Southern Dales. Pen-y-Ghent is in the background the picture.IMG_1189.JPG

Sounds great @GeoffB always on the lookout for places like that.
The picnic area across the road - is that part of the pub, public, pay & display etc? or any overnight restrictions you're aware of? thanks

Not part of the pub, looks like a bit of waste ground that the council have turned into a picnic area which isn't used much. No charge as far as we could see. When going over the bridge, the pub car park is on the right and this picnic area is just past that turning, on the left, opposite a row of houses. Turn left again immediately after leaving the road and you're there.

Be careful not to fall foul of the drink drive laws if "in charge of vehicle while under the influence" when on public ground.

The Pigs Nose in East Prawle is also great. http://www.pigsnoseinn.co.uk/ The pub is really great, lots of local ales, good food and often mild weather even in early spring and late autumn. It is in the South Hams about 15 miles south west of Dartmouth. The campsite is basic, but very well used.
The pub has live music from time to time, Judy Tzuke is performing in May in the village hall.
Fantastic walks and views all round the area.

Thanks SimonB ,great find. Not too far from us so definitely worth a stay this summer.
Dog friendly with well behaved owners. :)

Last nights home. Not a pub & definitely not the prettiest of spots but a great location. Across the road from the beach & only a short bike ride/walk into Southport town centre (where there are plenty of pubs) - not for everyone but works for us :thumb

Southport Pleasureland authorised motorhome stopover.

Wow that's a very rare sight, a bike rack that's actually going to have some bikes put on it!!

Fantastic pub and wonderful people but I would say that as the owners are old friends of mine. Peter is a legend in the music business which is how they get so many well known musicians and bands playing there.

bikes go everywhere with us, park up then get on the bikes to explore, one of the reasons I love the cali so much is the freedom it gives you :)

Stayed at the Galmpton Touring Park recently which has lovely views over the river Dart. 5 minute walk downhill to the Manor Inn. We ate there 3 times as the food was excellent and dogs were warmly welcomed.
