We are not getting any response from the unit. Doesn't switch on, completely dead. Does anyone know if we are missing anything completely obvious or is it a call to VW?

It was fine Friday evening, not used all weekend, and dead this morning.

Any advice gratefully received.

Thank you

You can reset them if it is just hung by pressing < > and * buttons at the same time

As above - check the fuse (if you can work out which one!) - no two cali's appear to be the same.

If the fuse is OK, the try taking the fuse out for 10 mins (or just taking the positive terminal off the battery)

After no power for a while turn it on again, if still no good try th reset routine above again, finally proceed to a VW garage :-(

Thank you very much for the above. It wouldn't work for an hr. or so longer then after leaving the van for 30 minutes and getting back in to continue our journey it started unprompted. Might it shut down if the vehicle battery is low?

I will note the above advice for if it happens again, as I would rather try everything I can before a dealer visit.
