Hi,
I have a 2012 Cali which had the roof corrosion repaired under warranty in 2017. Unfortunately after 5 years it's back with a vengeance and water on my carpets to add to the insult. Has anyone had this problem as I guess VW are going to tell me to go away.

I wouldn’t have thought the wet carpet would be as a result of the roof corrosion more likely a problem with the roof drains. Unless the repair was the ”mark 2” repair with the plastic cap which have been known to leak.
Good luck with VW, I think they take a step back and say it’s the body shop who have to warranty their work.

That’s the big problem VW washes their hands of warranty work carried out by their approved body shops. You will find it’s the actual shop that repaired it you would need to contact. Only thing is any warranty is not going to be more than 2 years and 3 years if you were very lucky.
You may have to fork out yourself just like lots of us on here.

Hi,
So it's now March 2025 and my 2012 Cali is all shiney and watertight. I found someone to replace the corroded roof panel, it's a £5000 repair job. I could not find a dealer in the country that would touch it. The cap that vw put on was such a bodge, it was never going to last but they don't care about that.
It took months longer to repair than expected and the engineer said he certainly does not want to repeat the process. For all those with the same problem, good luck finding a solution, I have attached a photo so you can see what's under the plastic cap when it's removed. DSC_0039.JPG

Spent ages looking at the photo and couldn't workout what I was looking at, until I realised it was the remains of the original roof that was under the cap laying on the floor.
That plastic cap was a total bodge. How as owners we let VW get away with it I'll never know.

I reckon most owners didn’t appreciate what a bodge it was until the caps started leaking and whistling! Hard to believe that any engineer would have come up with it as a quality solution.
