Rubber seals on drivers door displaced

In the recent freezing weather, the driver's door seal was pulled out by the ice build-up. The seal is a short curved piece that works between the door and the wheel arch. One of the retaining clips is embedded in the displaced seal and the other clips are in the door profile. The 2019 van is under extended warranty but my dealer - Clark Commercials Aberdeen - advises this fault isn't covered. My concern is that the seal, having been pulled out, will not be held firmly by the clips should I refit it. However someone in the service team suggests - as an alternative to taking it to the dealers for a replacement - I use a 'specialist' adhesive to hold it in place. This is a fairly attractive idea as the seal is in perfectly good nick.
I would appreciate advice on whether using a rubber adhesive to assure retention is a good idea. And what adhesive to use?

I would do two things.
1. Treat the rubber with Gummi pflege. This will ensure that it is less prone to becoming sticky - especially in cold weather.
2. Use a specialist rubber compound such as the 3m black weatherstrip adhesive to bond it back.

I used this for a similar problem (the rubber door seal) about a year ago and the piece is still in place .

The wheel arch rubbers are a really cheap part, can be bought individually or as a pair, get a new set and save the adhesive for another day.

Agree with Kureinp after fitting the new part treat with Gummi Pflege or silicone

Thank you both, Kurienp and Perfectos. Should I find a stock item would the clips be separate? One of the clips has come away with the seal rubber and looks broken.

Clips are included but check the actual product, (VW ones are supplied with clips & IMO would be useless without them)

there are loads of sellers on a well known auction site

edit just looked, “ vw T6 wheel arch seal”

the first product shows clips (DYOR though)

note they are handed left and right

The same happened to me, both front doors. Just replaced with original parts for 20/25€ for both.
OEM VW codes: 7H0837565A + 7H0837566A
