Since I have only got one safe key for the Cali, I've been trying to get one cut at a local locksmith.
They located a "nearest equivalent" and cut it, but when I got home and tried it, it didn't fit.
I then decided to remove the lock from the safe to take to the locksmith. It was easy to remove (and looks rather cheap and crude), but I rather unnecessarily removed the circlip from the rear of the lock, which unfortunately allows the lock to come to pieces - pins and all!
After reassembly it works OK, but there is a small nylon rectangular piece left over. I'm not sure if it's a piece of rubbish that fell into the safe or is part of the lock. There is no obvious use for it.
But here's the question - the key is now removable when locked AND unlocked and I can't recall if that was the case before. That means that you can't pull the safe door open with the key when unlocked - the key just comes out!
Can someone please check for me if the key should stay in the lock when unlocked - thanks.
