Sat nav - target acquired

When I start my sat nav, I get that weird 'target' screen giving me options of destinations that I don't want
I've tried to get it to start with mapping but no joy
What am I missing/not doing right?

Tap on the small ‘arrow’ on the slider bar that’s to the right and it should bring up the map.

Cheers, I've done that, and you're right
But, is there a way to make the map the default setting on start-up?
