I am considering the option of purchasing a moped/scooter. The issue being I absolutely adore the Cali however when I want quick excursions or to run a few errands I do not want to pack up and pitch save. I have searched the forums however a lot isn’t up to date. I’ve considered pedal power but quite honestly don’t fancy it. Any suggestions would be appreciated together how one would tow. Lightweight, compact and nippy. Thanks in advance.

Hmmmm cali is best vehicle for quick excursions. Just travel light.

Moped. IMHO you need trailer and then you can take with you another small car. Time to time I see big Motorhomes with trailers and small cars like smart.

Electric bike on a bike rack. Scooter would probably need a trailer , unless less than 100 kg because of towbar weight limits, then you have speed restrictions.

Honda MSX125 ‘Grom’ is circa 100kg - it’s a small motorcycle (like a monkey bike)

Electric bike or even electric motorbike. Not disturbing the campsite then and should give you enough range for a trip to the shops. Only downside is a bike isn’t for two. It’s a compromise between weight and convenience really.

Sh*t the bed!!! Euro690!!!

I’m just about to start making a similar one. I see it uses the chassis rail fixings of the Westfalia type tow bar.
I think my Design has the edge ;) and probably around Euro 600 cheaper.

Yeah, they ain´t cheap.
Chassis fixings are about 300.

Soo, yeah. Here we go.

Got a colleague to do a spot of FEA on the deign. Static loads are easy. Big bump at 140kphspike loads took a bit of working out.

So a quick test to the South of France and back didn’t throw up any issues.

Its probably a bit OTT. My FEA guy doesn’t think ally is a good alternative unfortunately.
I’ve got a few tweaks in mind but as a prototype it’s a goer.
This is actually the Mk2 version. Mk3 May make it into production?

Tail gate opens fine with the bike removed. Total time to mount and load the bike, 15mins.

Shame the bike rack stops the bike rack working :) Somewhere to hang your leathers I guess...
