We were away this weekend, only the second time and ever and first time since we had time to get our act together. All went well, even with the constant rain on Friday which meant we arrived to a Glastonbury/Somme/insert-your-favourite-swap-here type situation, except we broke the centre seatbelt catch of the three-seat bench!

We were folding it down for bedtime when there was a 'crack' like plastic breaking. Stopped immediately and checked the under seat drawers in case something had got caught. Couldn't see anything so carried on. In the morning when we folded the seat back up again we heard some stuff fall to the floor. Looked underneath and there were the plastic parts of the central seatbelt catch!

Seems from search we weren't the only ones to have this happen, but I wasn't expecting the catch to be in a position to get caught in the mechanism, or else I may had checked that it was in the correct place. We had no warning until the 'crack' when it was too late.

Annoying, but luckily we only needed four belted seats, otherwise that could have been a disaster!IMG_20210528_173234.jpg

Happy end to the story. New seatbelt latch fitted by VW Van Centre Leeds, under warranty, all done quickly and efficiently without fuss. Ready for passengers again.

seat belts should be covered under warranty for life . but they are not. had to change 2 on our vw at our cost . one would not lock out and the other would not pull out .

Our Beach is under warranty, so they replaced it free of charge. Seems to have got caught underneath in the mechanism, which can't be right.
