Kari-tek (maybe different spelling) make this system for kayaks etc in UK. Had one for a while but found he extra height limiting

This one will bolt close to the roof on low mounting blocks, depending on the set-up I can achieve 2meters height for the basic roofrack.

I wouldn’t trust Volkswagen build quality. Could be an expensive repair using the door latch...
