Well after nine years and 96 thousand miles the hinge finally fractured! After reading other posts we decided 500 quid for a new table was not an option…… so we found an old threaded bolt from our box of bits and cut off a piece of steel tube to the length of the fractured hinge and set to work
We pulled off the metal caps to release the leg support and took out the original bolt
Taking a baby hacksaw we cut out the damaged area leaving a cup shape ready to place our freshly cut length of steel…….
Yes we cleaned the area with spirit and sandpaper ready for a good base for the replacement tube and then covered it with a two pack glue, once this had set we put it back together…… a good hour or twos work and lots of money saved ready for our next trip!!
