I have a 2006 Cali and it seems quite smoky, particulary when you accelerate hard which causes it to bellow the stuff out the back. I know its not a new engine (2.5L 174bhp) but its not quite Chitty Chitty Bang Bang yet. Even after starting up it stinks. Is this normal? Have had it go into limp mode occasionally after harsh acceleration and I don't know if this is connected?

Yes it could be linked Andy, as you eluded to in the other thread.

Lots of black smoke is usually unburied fuel or incomplete/Improper combustion. If the Turbo vanes are sticking then the engine will not be running optimally.

There are other things that can cause it but I would have the diagnostic check done first and see what that reveals.

Has it been chipped? Needs to be looked at as there are a lot of possibilities.
