I think anyone manic enough to paint their door handles will also be very careful with them...

Indeed, mine were awful, the rubberised coating was coming off and they looked generally grubby...
scratched the rest of the coating off, cleaned them up and got them sprayed up same colour as the van.
Time will tell how long it lasts, but worth a try!
