Solar regulator FAULT

I have solar panels which work fine but, prior to going to France, I thought I'd plug in for a full charge. They now read 100% but I noticed that the regulator to the solar panels now reads "Battery FAULT" Is this a definite indication of a problem with the rear battery or could it be spurious? If so how can I reset the regulator? It's a SUNWORKS digital Solar control.

It turned out to be a fuse to the rear battery on the solar line. It had not blown but the fuse casing had melted. The battery was tested and was fine. The engineer reckoned that the fuse may have been arcing.

Can you connect the solar panels and regulator up to another battery and see if the fault is still there.
Perhaps it may be quicker to get a new regulator if it's faulty. We've had two of these and they have been fine, delivered within a couple of days.
Were you able to connect the panels and regulator? I am working on similar project so please provide some more information
