Starlink mini now available in the UK at £189 on the Starlink website.
I have a gen2, which is mahoosive.
Wanted the mini but wasn’t paying £400.
Just bought it and delivery in 4 days.
£50 a month roam cost. I’ll pause it as soon as I get it.

So even though its £50/month you can pause payments?
So its kind of pay per use - but for a month at a time?

Yes you pay for one monthly billing cycle.
So pay on the first day, then pause on 2nd day, you’ll have internet for a month. Then it will stop on the 32nd day. But great value for money. If you off the beaten track.

Thanks for this, done the same just ordered.
Like you I have the directional one but the mini looks great for van use, but I couldn’t stomach the £400 knowing it was going to drop in price.

I could be tempted at that price.
I mean yes its pricey if you only end up using a few times in a month (wifi down) but I'm thinking two weeks or so in France - I have 100Gb EE and Vodafone Roaming but signal is never great so this would be a nice have.

can you power the mini from one a USB adapter in one of the Cali 12V cigarette lighter sockets ?
or do you have to plug it in the inverter socket ? I have a T6 which I think outputs 150W max

For anyone going to Spain, I can recommend MASMOVIL. I bought a 240GB one month 5G data sim for €15. You can reuse at a later date but need to top up with the minimum amount at least once in 6 months. They are full speed and use the Orange network. Worth checking them out

Yes, you can power from USB with an appropriate cable.

I always had issues with my two poynting pucks.
Even though I had 1 bar signal, throughput was lagging.
Everytime I used the starlink, it was really awesome.

Sometimes using pucks is not the best solution as the longer cabling can lead to performance loss.
I use a fast home 5G router with the internal antenna and keep it near the rear window. Download and upload speeds are way faster than I need for working remotely.

Can you sell it to the OH as easily as you're selling it me please :veryfunny
I asked her (OH) what she thought about another campervan (I’d sold my 6.1, 4M Ocean a year ago, as I had a HA and two stents fitted,
And she banned me from staying out on my own, which was reasonable. )
She said, okay let’s go look.

Went to B’ham Swansway and had a look and she really likes the t7.

We came home and then gave her the good news, I’d already ordered one a week ago ;) :D

Oh and I was always told by an old boss
Asking for forgiveness is easier than asking for permission :)

I do the same with an old 5G Three router and a prepaid Three SCANCOM data card - was only £139 for 14 months of UNLIMITED data (600Gb fair usage). This is UK only though.

I should mention prepaid also, they have an +amazon+amazon+amazon+amazon+amazon+amazon store - highly recommend.

Yes that is exactly what I do. My EE sim was due to expire on 8th this month after 18 months of use. I bought a new one but it’s now 20th and the old one is still working.

Yep it’s cheaper than their own website :thumb
Prices on their website can look cheaper until they add the VAT at checkout.

You’ll need a lot of solar power to run that big man…
