Hi all.
Due to family commitment we have been unable to bet out in the 600 for about 12 months the van is just 3 years old we have had it from new and it has covered 6000 miles. It has just been in my local VW Commercial van centre for a cambelt & water pump change and MOT. On our first trip out this year we had travelled 3hours and stopped to fill with diesel on resuming a flashing amber coil warning light came on the dash. I pulled over stoped the van switch back on light went off. Resumed the journey amber engine management light came on then flashing coil light again followed by lack of power on hills. Managed to nurse the van to our destination I called VW assist which is the AA they came out plugged into the OBD port looked at fault codes reset it and said it should be fine now. In 10 days time we travel back and I guess I will see if it is ok?? Below are the fault report from the AA.

Patrol found the following fault code/s:System : Engine management 1 - VEL / Engine management EDC Delphi DCM 6.2 UDS Status :p22D300 - Turbocharger solenoid valve Turbine inlet. Error Message : Component stuck closed. Sporadic fault. Status :p22D500 - Turbocharger turbine position sensor. Error Message : Signal improbable. Sporadic fault. Status :p203B00 - AdBlue tank level sensor. Error Message : Signal improbable. Sporadic fault.Had a stuck solenoidDid a resetEngine Oil Level Ok. Coolant Level Ok.

Question 1. Has anyone ever experienced this and how did you rectify it?

Question 2. Does adblu go off? I have a tank full in the van which has been in 12 months should this be drained off and refilled with new adblu, could this cause engine management issues as it is mentioned in the AA report.

Any advice would be greatly received and sorry for the long winded post.

Just to throw in a curved ball, I would be checking wires for signs of being chewed, you have a set of fault codes relating to more than one component. The chances of more than one component failing is remote but if a part of the loom has been chewed it could throw up all those.errors.

I think I read recently Adblu can go off, and apparently also degrades in UV so advised not to buy bottle from a garage forecourt if it looks like bottle been out in sun for a long time

As Andy has suggested, sounds like possible rodent damage.
Can I ask why you got a cambelt and water pump done at 3 years old and 6000 miles? Just curious as this is quite early.

Apparently VW has changed their position from mileage to time as rubber can deteriorate over time so my VW Commercial dealership advised me to change them between 3-4 years. The cost of a belt breaking against the cost of replacement is a no brainer for me but like my VW Commercial dealership said it was entirely up to me but they advised 3 years!!

Sorry but I think that is incorrect information. Think you’ll find they have dropped the 4 year time interval and now it’s mileage based. Something like, 140k rings a bell for the Crafter.

Sounds like the garage have ripped you off on the cam belt replacement. Even under the old recommendation it was four years.
