T4 towbars

I have a 1991T4 with towbar. It is now too tired to tow much and would like to transfer the towbar to my 2003 long wheelbase Westfalia. Looking online, the bars for the two vehicles seem almost identical. Anyone know if it can be done - maybe with some minor modifications to the bar?
