I have a 2018 T6 California 150DSG Ocean with 18" Toluca Alloys (no spare, empty wheel well with what looks to me like a good front bracket) and a 2017 T6 Transporter 204DSG 4Mo with 17" Davenports (and a steel spare underneath in the usual place). The Ocean has 255/45R 18 103Y Tyres fitted and the Transporter has 215/60R 17 107T Tyres. (I know they aren't an exact rolling circumference match but they are pretty close.....)
We are heading up to the Highlands to do the NC500 at the end of September and I'm wondering what thoughts are on this forum of whether or not people think carrying a spare when touring the remote highlands (I guess the word "remote" is a clue..!!) is a good idea and if so whether or not you'd happily fit the Transporter spare to the California for the trip or buy a new kit (tyre, brace etc) and just have done with it permanently... I should also say that my only previous tyre issue in the California was a pothole blowout in the New Forest. We were VWAssist recovered back home and I did actually fit the Van spare to the California then so that I could drive to the tyre place for a new one.....
I realise that any spare will just be a "get me to a garage" fix and perhaps of relevance to the question is the fact that it will just be my partner and I on the trip, no kids, dogs, hitchhikers, etc etc. Interested to hear anyone's thoughts
