My T6 control panel (roof, heating) doesn't work anymore. It doesn't turn on via the I/O button.

The history, I don't know if it has anything to do with it:
- The start/stop battery has been replaced.
- The date had to be reset. This didn't work, the screen started flashing.
- The next day I couldn't turn the panel on anymore.
- The I/O button is still lit red, the other buttons (heating, rotary knob) have no background lighting.
- The lighting of the I/O button seems to be less strong than the lighting of the buttons to operate the interior lighting, for example.

What I tried.
- Waited a day
- Shore power
- Checked 5A fuses.
- Removed the ground cable from the battery.

Does anyone have an idea of the cause, possible solution or an estimate of the possible costs of having a new panel installed?

i think here, first job is to pull the panel out and check all the plugs at the back are secure

Are the Leisure Batteries charged?
If they are not then the Control Panel won’t function.

Hello Welshgas,

thanks for your reply. I bought the camper recently, and this is my first California.
Made one trip and did not have it on shore power. Isn't the leisure battery not charged during driving? (after 1000km, the panel did not work). I will put it on shore power for a day and check the battery. I will give it a follow up.

Both engine and Leisure Batteries should charge when driving

I have done a few things.
* leisure battery measured
* 5A fuses measured

Now I also have the camper control unit out.
I have a few questions about this:
* I measure an incoming current of 4V, see the image. Is this correct?
* I do not dare to connect the control unit to an external power source, do not know how much current it should have.

Ok, you should see 12v.

I would double check using dressmaker pins or very fine sewing needles to ensure you have correct contact, you probably won't get full contact with safety pins. Be extremely cautious inserting anything into connectors, you can easily expand the terminal and end up with an intermittent fault.

If you keep one pin in cavity 31, then the other in cavity 30 you should see 12v with ign on as a test.

Hello, thanks for you quick reply. I used dressmaker pins and ignition on but still 4V. Also when I put the fuses (in the wardrobe off) still 4V.

4v is an issue. That battery Is dead.not helpful I know

Can you use the cigar lighter outer metal shell as the ground and check the voltages on pin 32 and pin 30 . This rules out a ground issue.

Pin 30 should be from the vehicle battery so something is odd.

Absolutely not challenging your knowledge, but just checking that the voltage meter setting is set to DC and not AC.

I have the meter on DC.
I thought pin 30 is ground.
30 + cigar lighter = 0
32 + cigar lighter = 4V

If the leisure battery is dead, how can I check?
One site note, not sure if it has anything to do with it. The garage replaced the start/stop battery.

battery seems to be fine. Is there another point, near the control panel, where I can check the voltage?
Did I overlook a fuse?

Yes.
There is a 50 or 75 amp cube fuse under the red cap.
Remove the cap and connect directly to the lead.
This will measure the voltage of the 2nd leisure battery under the front passenger seat RHD.
If the cube fuse has blown you will get a different voltage reading.
The Control Panel is wired to the front leisure battery.

I have the meter on DC.
I thought pin 30 is ground.
30 + cigar lighter = 0
32 + cigar lighter = 4V

Pin 31 is Ground (you have it correct in your photo )

just to check you have good connections. If you switch the ignition on, does the voltage between Pin 30 & 31 go to ~12v?

Hel

No, not 12V only 4V
Can you check the voltage at the fuses.

To be honest i am struggling to explain the 4v esp on the ign feed, which should be from the starter battery.

It is easy to get the pin numbers confused, i always end up trying check the tiny numbers on the connector but from memory you have the correct orientation and cavities.

I don't get it either. I've given up. Camper is going to the garage where they replaced the start/stop battery. Maybe there's somewhere a (created) current leak .
I also don't dare to connect 12v to the control panel to check it.
I'll post the result of the garage visit. Thanks for all the suggestions.
