T6 Headlight rewire?

Just had my 2017 T6 in for 24k service and asked for the DRL bulb to be replaced on the near side as it is not working.
I then received a call from the service manager to say that it wasn’t a blown bulb, but a “known issue” that would require both headlamps being rewired at the cost of £239! No contribution from VW as the vehicle is out of warranty.
Anyone else had this issue? Or any alternative advice to avoid paying this appreciated.
