T6 VW California Delays

Has anyone put an order in for a T6 Cali recently (within the past week) ? I have contacted four dealers so far this week and they are all giving build dates of week 28 which is June so I can't see delivery happening until July.

We are worried as we are now going to miss a lot of the season, we also need to take into account further delays.

Tempted to maybe buy a T5 but prices seem to be holiding up well.

Hello Alandjohn. In my limited experience that build week seems fairly accurate. We placed an order yesterday and we were advised it will probably be built in May / June (subject to final confirmation from the factory).
We are OK with this as our daughter wants to revise for her final exams in June (limiting our weekends away) - but we are keeping our fingers crossed for a delivery date by early July as we have made plans for the remainder of the summer that are based on the van arriving.

We finally ordered our VW T6 Ocean on Monday . Hurrah.
It's been a long journey , 12 mths to finally place an order. Have hired T5 x2 & nearly bought T5 180 DSG demo with nearly 9% discount last July. Decided to wait for the T6.
Told delivery 18 to 20 wks. We're happy to wait. Our first major adventure will be to Northern Spain & Portugal in September. The forum has been invaluable in helping choose our added options.

I ordered last Tuesday (from Guy at Preston) and have been told I have a week 14 build slot (early April) and then 4-6 weeks until delivery to me.

Hi, we were hopping to get an end of season T5 deal, however the prices remained very high so decided to go for the T6 and have the exact spec we wanted. It was ordered in Nov with a Feb build date and delivery late March. We have everything crossed expecting a phone call saying it will be early. 1st of march would suit me. good luck its tough being patience.

Don't despair. We ordered our T6 at the end of October on the basis of a build estimate of April. When the order was accepted by VW it showed an estimated build date of week 5 which then came down to a confirmed build slot week 4 (this week ). I haven't heard for sure that it was built this week but assuming it was we are looking forward to 1 March collection - exactly 4 months from order.

Realise now that because my tablet is very "frisky" (sensitive) it has probably happened when swiping without my knowledge. My apologies, really sorry, definitely wouldn't disagree because we are waiting too - will be much more careful in future.

We are also very excited having ordered our T6 end November with 9 weeks wait. Unfortunately it slid back to 11, and yesterday to 15 weeks, and is still unconfirmed.

Hope you are feeling better. The anticipation of getting out in the Cali is medicine in itself. Graham

Have been told similar. Order 204 4motion manual. Initial build estimate wk 18. Then down to week 9 now back up to week 18. All unconfirmed still. It's a pain as I got rid of current car which I had finance on so I could save enough funds for what I thought was imminent arrival. Now I fear it may be a somewhat longer wait.

My dealer in Slovakia giving an estimate of 27week. Before it came to signing the papers he was stating 20 weeks max. I don't really need cali in August.. Might as well order it in autumn so they lazy VW can build it for spring within 30-40 weeks. But am sure they will deliver at the start of the winter in that case.
Anyway looks like worth just renting one finance wise than getting it close to the end of a season and then paying for insurance, service, parking...for the winter.

Ordered our Cali Ocean on the 9th September. Originally given a build week (2016) 02 which then moved to 01 and then just before Christmas went to 11.

Really frustrated and the dealer has no idea.

I was told by SMG that once an unconfirmed build date was given it seldom slipped back, normally came forward if anything. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case any longer, it looks as if VW are using a yo-yo to give unconfirmed build dates.

We've been waiting over 8 weeks since placing an order and still haven't been given a confirmed build date which I don't know about you I don't find acceptable, then again perhaps I'm being unreasonable expecting VW to run with German precision!

So far we've had three unconfirmed build dates for our T6, but they HAVE been able to confirm that they WON’T be able to provide to supply the Brandrup accessories we ordered!

There definitely seems to be contrast between Ocean and Beach orders. I ordered a Beach a couple of weeks ago and got a build week within a few days. Every delay I've read about appears to be for an Ocean.

Perhaps the factory build one for a period and then the other but the delays are quite significant, it would appear. I can appreciate your frustration!

I was about to say the same thing. We ordered our high spec beach on 23 Nov and we were initially given build week 8 which then subsequently changed to confirmed week 4, so hopefully being built right now. SMG told my wife yesterday that there is a shortage of certain parts, so maybe this is kitchens and electric roofs!
