just fitted Tdi tuning kit to T6 dsg
150 to 180 bhp
Much better power and acceleration
Achieving 50 plus mpg driving up to all speed limits
North Yorkshire to Nec for caravan show
54 mpg
10 mins to fit ..... plug and play
No brainer for around £100.00

my concern would be my 5-year warranty

Which did you use??

Some of them are non detectable.
So you just whip it off when it goes in for a service.
If the VW computer whatever it is called ECU? is able to lock you out of your own vehicle I wouldn’t want to bet on it not logging the fact that some spurious software has been fitted.

I ran a Caddy from new with a upgraded map and it never flagged during service once in three years.
I’m not saying a Cali won’t.

it wont show up on a routine service as the ecu will need to be flashed

There´s loads tuning boxes available and i think some people
do it because of the warranty and it not being traceable, the proper
way would be to have it re-mapped but after the warranty has expired.

This is from DTUK

This means, unlike other tuning options, that we do not interfere directly with the ECU or break any factory seals so avoid invalidating your warranty.

I assume you need to declare it as a modification to your insurance company?

I tried the Dtuk tuning box in my wifes Golf GTD. It was good at 1st, but then kept bringing up warning lights on the dash. Going into limp home mode was the worst, normally when she was on her own in the car. Tried all different settings but kept doing it.
It sits in the in the drawer in the garage now, as soon as the car was 3 years old I had a Revo remap and it is far superior in all round drive ability.

Geoff, was yours the DTUK box or an alternative?

Given that it is external to the ECU, how does it adjust the EGR duty cycle?

I’ve always wondered with all these devices why engines are not tuned to best performance, economy and emissions at factory, especially in today’s climate.

My cynical view is that they can charge an extra 1 k for 1800 version with no other mechanical changes

Any third party modification that compromises the quoted "toxic" emission quantities listed in the registration document would be illegal unless that device/program has also been tested and evidence provided to confirm its compliance, the new real time tests of course are even more stringent.

We have had a genuine DTUK box on our Yeti for about six years with no problems. The cheap versions only increase the fueling and don't regulate the air supply correctly, hence why you get problems.

They are.
Any aftermarket " Tuning " will affect one of the parameters you mentioned to the detriment of the others, but you rarely, if ever, see one of these " Tuning " companies quoting improvements in Emissions . Normally it is just power.

Pity the MOT, in the UK, doesn't actually test the function of the EGR valve and the DPF.

Simple. Marketing. One generic engine with several sates of tune available via different software (maps) in the ECU.

It’s often the case when you buy an upgraded map what you’re actually getting is the next one up the range from the manufacturer albeit slightly smoothed over to flatten out any lumps in the power curve out there to get around noise/emissions.

Personally wouldn’t touch one that works it’s magic without remapping the ECU.

But according to their figures if you select the minimum performance enhancement you get 34 more horse power, 28 lb/ft torque and 4-6 more mpg. So that presumably means less emissions? And in their questions and answers they also claim it does not increase emissions.
I’m no expert, am I missing something?
