But according to their figures if you select the minimum performance enhancement you get 34 more horse power, 28 lb/ft torque and 4-6 more mpg. So that presumably means less emissions? And in their questions and answers they also claim it does not increase emissions.

The mpg doesnt improve. More power means more energy and therefore more fuel. The mpg is misleading because the nature of the tuning box is it plays around with the input signals to the ecu so in turn the ecu outputs are now corrupted data. So your fuel economy can only be relied upon by the brim to brim method. I suggest the OP try this and see the difference.
Tuning box,s can work effectively I have used them myself but no free lunch Im afraid.
Longer term the big threat is to the DPF as your chucking more soot into it.
Emissions depends which your talking about however higher temps (from the power) = higher NoX , did the tuner measure it ? Nope
