Sorry @GrannyJen we took your thread in a different direction. Hope your injuries are on the mend.

It's not my thread, threads are public property in a forum and besides you are taking about scrumping.

It was an obligation of every child who was taken hop-picking to Kent to return with as many scrumped apples as possible.

Even now, 60 plus years later, I still keep clear of the three bridges - Yalding area for fear of being hung from the nearest apple tree ....
