first one fell apart replaced under warranty
second one burned out due to dumb owner not turning it off when roof closed down and replaced at cost (ouch expensive, well for what it is) last week
only checked properly at Brighton Breeze and surprised to find totally different design of head unit not something from 70s...a much better and safer and easier switch on and off..
but I do like the new T6 Cali lights built into roof..that is a definitive improvement..

note to self
as well as checking tailgate is down, also add check roof light is off onto list of things to remember to do!

No good , my fear is the roof canvas or martrass catch fire...thinking of taking out the light and making it a 12v socket.

How did you noticed it was burned ( burning) ? During the drive afther closing the roof...? Or aftherwarts opening the roof the next occasion?

noticed battery was very low and thought hmmm...forgot to hook up and recharge after getting home last outing a few weeks back...then at Busfest opened roof and found light on gulp and very very hot. went to turn it off and it came apart and interior lights fuse blew...poop!
yes I had a moments panic about what might have happened....
new design of head is much much better and looks more robust..when did they change them?

Modified it to LED a couple of weeks after getting the van back in '09... brighter, cooler, more even light.

Personally like the design of the head... full rotation etc. (I know most people appear to hate it)

I had the same issue of light being On, think it got knocked on when folding the canvas and closing the roof access panel.
Anyway it was a bit worse for wear and was blowing fuses so replaced it with the newer Osram Version OSRAM LED Onyx Copilot L+7 from Ebay £19. Has same base and screw positions but had to take of the connector from old light and solder to the new one. Its not as long as the original but better light and more flexible.

that one stocked by the :mute looks identical to what's been fitted to mine by now...when did they change over?
