The Hymer Club

Small world, we’re on the same site and I was admiring your van a few days back, looks ace.

First time I’ve stayed there. Probably one of the best campsites in the UK.
It’s right up there with Austrian/Swiss standard camping.
Have a great time :thumb

I have the ladder and a few blankets up there. Not sure i would risk a pillow, unless super careful.

Sounds like the sprinter is the one that drives the best.
I’ve read 5 hours of reviews last nite!
Just heard that Westfalia are bringing out a 6m Merc Sprinter AWD (or 4x4 selective, whichever) James Cook with extended sides, so no rear sliding pod. Just a traverse bed with tall fridge, freezer.
Not sure if it has pop up. But not too fussed if it does or doesn’t.
Q1 2025 RHD.
But could be a winner winner.
Sprinter and 4WD.
Going travel world Cannock now to sit on a sprinter Grand S seat.

AWD Sprinter, I’m guessing similar to BMW xDrive and I would upgrade.
Just a little re-assurance for the wet days and a little extra shove on boggy fields. Providing it’s the same heights as my current van. The 4x4 Mercedes are lovely, but utter overkill for what I do.
@Californication69 the Westfalia side pop out was a concern I noted when looking. Hopefully it’s reliable, they should have made that manual operation.

As I’ve said before, the Mercedes badge carries a lot of kerb appeal compared to the VW.

The Grand S seat was a delight. very supportive.
But cant get over the size of it.
It is large. I cant imagine me driving it to customer locations in the UK.
Back to the drawing board.

That’s a really good price with active Distance assist.
Bloke at Hymer travel world did my swede in today. Kept asking when I was ready to put a deposit on it.
Kept skirting questions I put to him.
Didn’t know why the £132k grand 4x4 didn’t have LED headlights when it said it on the nightstand info label.
Just very slippery.
On and on about how the prices will rise 10 to 15% when the new model comes out.
Told him I will need to sell mine private as £62k is a PTake.
But then do I really want to sell mine?
As a day van, can’t beat it.
Get my scram from services or do myself a quick hot choc.
But the damn seat position is :headbang
Height adjuster base was no good, only added 1cm extra height.
Maybe I could put a sprinter seat in.
The Hymer grand S seat was like a cherry

I had the same well rehearsed line on many of the larger vans I inquired about. I appreciate some on this site may disagree but I think that statement of 10% - 15% increases in the current market is absolute nonsense. Amazing the Hymers are it would put a higher spec north of £150k, I just cannot see many people paying those sorts of prices.

Like many new cars presently, they may well increase prices by 3% - 5% but soon offer similar level discounts so you pay the same or less for the new model.

People over on the t6forum do replace the standard transporter seats with RR seats etc. You may have already been on there to search. Agree, nothing beats a Cali to arrive at a customer meeting in style and also do some post work afterwards. The large vans ... Are large and for holidays only. Maybe after retirement ... :)

Maybe this company, or similar, might have the answer to your seating dilemma.

The 4x4 Grand S is a monster. You’ll struggle to get into it with your back.
I’d love to know the MPG those things make…

I had the older version and normally got 25-28 mpg. Lovely to drive but the service I received from Travelworld made me vow to never go to back to Hymer. Came back to VW for the service all in one place, but after a year of having a great Ocean, I am hoping it carries on with my 680 that's arrived at the dealership this week.

I’ve never known a dealership with such bad press as TW. I looked at two used vans there over a 12month period and all I can say, is absolutely shocking how they were presented. Considering the big glitzy showroom they were showcased in.
I don’t think van conversion’s are worth there time…

They’re my nearest dealer, both my Hymers have been purchased 2.5 hrs away. If it wasn’t Southdowns I would use Adventure Leisure who have a remarkably good reputation.

I’d pay a handsome price for somebody to have a solution.
I’ll take another look on T6forum. All I could see were Audi wingbacks.
You are so right, regarding customer sites, draws people in to talk about life, about side of work.
So have some great customer relations. Maybe more so as I’m not pulling up in a normal car. Who knows ! And yep I love being in the services and can finish my work up on the table and eat and drink in comfort.

Why not fabricate something to raise the height and see if that works? I am sure someone with a good home workshop should be able to.

I did on BH Monday.
Got some galvanised steel bar with holes in.
40x2mm x1m from B&Q and chopped it into squares.
I’ve added 20mm to the rear, which is more than the height adjuster seat base could do. And about 10mm to the front.
It’s better, still with 20mm memory foam pad under my butt. And a square of foam behind the middle of my back. Did 340miles in 2 days and my back today isn’t too bad tbh.
Really liking the sound of RR seats in though.
Wish there was somebody in the Midlands that did this sort of thing. But even the good upholsterers have shut up shop.
And I need somewhere local to go back and forth, paying them to get it right.

They booked me in for warranty work, new pop top struts and new control board. Drove 2.5 hours to get there, and on arrival they said they didn’t have the parts. Called them two months later for update to be told now out of warranty. Never again

How bizarre, the picture of your white sprinter is showing in my reply but not your original post !
Not even a link.
Looks great!
Would love to buy an older one to see how I get on with it.
Can’t justify paying out £116k for a 3 year old MY21 just to see!
TW absolutely suck. The salesman was almost comical. Young chap who might have sold insurance or maybe he was a recruitment guy in ManPower. Now those guys made me laugh hard with their pitch style.
